OUR OBJECTIVES

We first aim to preserve and conserve the unique Tibetan culture and Buddhist heritage of the Nubri valley. We tap into indigenous and Buddhist knowledge and values to design our projects and make sure they are implemented in collaboration with members of the local community.

We align with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to “Leave No One Behind”, and contribute to goals 2, 4, and 5 of the SDGs.

Goal 2: ZERO HUNGER.

End hunger, achieve food security, and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

We equip small-scale farmers most hit by climate change, chiefly women, with agroecology

and permaculture tools enabling them to ensure better food security for their community.

We also provide vegetable farming in cold-climate greenhouses for women of Samagaun.

Goal 4: QUALITY EDUCATION.

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all.

To ensure this objective our kindergartens provide:

  • the best early childhood education possible as well as moral values.

  • child daycare support so that the parents can work in the fields, especially during the busy
    harvesting season.

  • healthy food, basic medical care, and warm clothing

  • full equipment with furniture, learning resources, playground, and other necessary equipment

  • teachers training in early childhood education and professional development so that they can
    give the best to children,

  • a smooth system of running the kindergartens and schools with 100% attendance.

Goal 5: GENDER EQUALITY.

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

We provide adult-literacy classes to adult women of Samagaun in English, Nepali, and Maths
following a holistic, non-formal, interest, and play-based approach to learning.
