MEDITATION JOURNEY to Upper Mustang
A Sacred Path Through Snow, Silence, and the Heart
In 2025, a diverse group of participants from across the world gathered for a rare and transformative Meditation Journey to Upper Mustang; a pilgrimage that blended mindful trekking, daily meditation, yoga, and profound Buddhist teachings amidst one of the most sacred and remote landscapes of the Himalayas.
As the journey unfolded, unexpected snowfall in Upper Mustang greeted us with biting cold, silent valleys, and white-washed trails. Yet, paradoxically, it was this very harshness of nature that deepened the warmth within our hearts. Wrapped in layers of wool and wind, participants discovered an inner refuge; cultivated through stillness, shared effort, and a sense of collective purpose.
Each day began with mindful mornings and unfolded through meditative walks across ancient trails, passing centuries-old monasteries, mani walls, caves, and the walled city of Lo Manthang. Video teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche on several different topics and by Khenpo Orgyen Woser; our charity chairperson, on the Four Noble Truths and the Four Foundations of Attention, gently guided participants to turn inward, using the outer journey as a mirror for inner transformation. His grounded presence and compassionate instruction created a safe and contemplative space, allowing the teachings to settle naturally into lived experience rather than remaining conceptual.
Despite the physical challenges of altitude, cold winds, and snow-covered paths, the group moved forward together; supporting one another with quiet smiles, shared silence, and spontaneous laughter around warm meals in camp. Evening reflection sessions, group meditation, and yoga practices helped integrate the day’s experiences, turning exhaustion into insight and hardship into humility.
Participants often shared that the journey felt less like a trek and more like a return; to simplicity, to presence, and to what truly matters. Many described moments of deep emotional release, renewed clarity, and a sense of interconnectedness; not only with fellow trekkers, but also with the land, its people, and the ancient wisdom that continues to live in Upper Mustang.
Beyond personal transformation, this meditation journey also carried a larger purpose. As a fundraiser supporting Tergar Charity Nepal’s education initiatives, the trek allowed participants to walk with intention; knowing that each step contributed to meaningful change in remote Himalayan communities.

The Meditation Journey 2025 concluded not as an ending, but as a continuation; participants returned home carrying more than memories. They carried a quieter mind, a softer heart, and a deeper commitment to live with awareness, compassion, and gratitude.
In the stillness of snowfall and the vastness of Upper Mustang, many found something enduring: the courage to pause, the joy of presence, and the timeless warmth of the Dharma.
